In water I offer Watsu, an invitation to surrender to the embrace of warm water. Watsu is a gentle, passive form of aquatic bodywork. The body is gently swayed, massaged and stretched into various shapes inviting the mind-heart-body to relax and improving joint range of motion.
Watsu offers a unique way of accessing the body though buoyancy, softening tension and chronic pain. The gentle force of hydrostatic pressure presses the skin and muscles resulting in improved blood circulation.
During this restorative experience, the head and neck are supported and the ears are submerged. Floats are placed around the legs to keep the body buoyant.
Watsu is a great compliment to both cognitive and other manual therapies as it fundamentally calms the nervous system and supports the musculoskeletal system.
